Ferraro, pioniere della Magnetoidrodinamica (MHD). Il premio e' indetto a livello internazionale e viene assegnato a tesi di dottorato nel campo della Fisica dei Plasmi Spaziali. La selezione del vincitore e' effettuata da una Commissione di esperti del settore. Alla cerimonia sono invitati anche gli studenti delle scuole secondarie di secondo grado, con l'intento di stimolare la loro curiosita' scientifica verso le discipline STEM.
